GEMARI.ID-JAKARTA. Former Vice Rector of Satyagama University, Dr. H. Rahimullah, SH, MSi, during an interview with the gemari.id team at the Royal Palm Hotel in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, some time ago, explained that the science of government teaches us what is called good governance. Good governance must begin with planning. The science of government teaches that government planning cannot be done partially but must be comprehensive. Governance begins with human resources, materials, programs, and so on. Saturday (August 23, 2025).
According to him, our government currently faces many problems, including our human resources and integrity in the administration of state governance. We are now seeing massive corruption. As we know, we recently heard about a state official committing corruption. This concerns integrity and human resource integration, and this must be addressed. "I think the determination of our president, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, is very good. He said that he will not discriminate, we will eradicate, we will fight corruption," he said.
As a member of Satyagama University Senate, he added, "I'm grateful that in the past few days, that statement has been proven. He is determined that even though the Vice Minister who was arrested and found guilty is from his party, he will still enforce the law. I think this is very good, it's a good lesson in how to plan the course of implementing good governance. I believe good, effective governance must be continued in the future and implemented seriously so that governance will be even better," he added.
As the former Secretary General of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), he urged the government not to prioritize sudden programs without prior planning. Currently, many government programs are unplanned, for example, several MBG (Free Nutritious Meals) activities, which were part of his campaign, but the extent of their impact on society has not been studied. Whether the program's implementation will benefit the nation, the common people, or not.
"If we observe, it turns out that many people say, 'We don't need free food, we need jobs for our parents, let parents be responsible for providing for their children and wives.' This means that development programs haven't been properly researched. I think research should be conducted in the future," he requested.
Not only that, as an academic, he highlighted that many development projects don't provide benefits to the community. For example, the construction of airports, without any research, is built at high costs. Ultimately, the airport is not used because it is not a primary need of the people, not a public need. Ultimately, it also absorbs enormous costs or funds from the state budget, even though there is no benefit. After being built at such a huge cost, it requires regular maintenance, which also requires significant costs. So, programs like this need to be reconsidered. Perhaps those that haven't been implemented need to have their budget reallocated to real community needs, ones that truly meet the needs of the community and improve the welfare of society as a whole, he concluded. @mulyono_dp
