GEMARI.ID-JAKARTA. The Republic of Indonesia experienced two extraordinary revolutions. The first revolution was the independence revolution led by President Soekarno, while the second revolution was led by President HM Soeharto. Both revolutions succeeded brilliantly and shocked the UN, said Prof. Dr. Haryono Suyono at his home some time ago. Sunday (22/12/2024).

According to the former Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare and Poverty Alleviation in the era of President Soeharto and President BJ Habibie, this success was followed by several countries in the world. It can be seen that many leaders of countries in the world have sent their senior officials to Indonesia. Including several Prime Ministers who came to Indonesia to ask President Soeharto for advice at that time, Haryono explained.

Furthermore, the former Chairman of BKKBN added that the second revolution succeeded in changing the family structure and ways of empowering families, which started by regulating the number of children in the family. After this was successful, it was seen that the population structure had drastically changed.

The Indonesian population pyramid, which is famous throughout the world as an expansive pyramid, that is, the bottom is wider and convex because the number of young people is greater, has now changed to look like a flower vase, which is small at the bottom and expands upwards with a lump at the top. Demography textbooks around the world are changing, and world demographers may have different expectations when they teach demography to their students.

Prof. Haryono further emphasized that this change shocked the world and many foreign leaders came to Indonesia to ask questions and learn about Indonesia's success in dealing with this population problem, he explained. @mulyono_dp
